Skills Station Facilities
The Skills Station provides facilities to allow those using it to gain
and development both knowledge and skills through a range of courses. With
support and guidance service users are able to learn new skills to help with
their personal pathways and development.
Wood Work Facilities:
The
skills station has a workshop facility that allows us to provide the woodwork
activity to those who are interested. This is where all of the wood products
are created, such as bird boxes, bird tables, signs and planters which are then
sold at our fairs. We also take orders from service users, staff and the
public.
Courses:
The
Skills station is also used as a location in which various courses are
undertaken. Arts & Crafts, various sewing projects, and pottery are just
some of the examples. These courses are held in the main room next to the
workshop, providing a friendly environment for the service users to communicate
and complete these courses together.
Healthy Living:
The
main focus of this course is to raise awareness on how healthy eating
positively impacts a person’s health. Recipes and cooking tips are provided to
those who attend, enabling them to produce their own appetising meals.
Everything learned during the healthy living course can be used to ensure that
a healthy diet is maintained.
Valeting:
A valeting activity held at the Skills Station, designed to teach
service users the importance of keeping vehicles clean, as well as being taught
the skills required to put their knowledge into practice. While working as part
of a team, various aspects of vehicle cleanliness are discussed and put into
practice, all under the guidance provided by staff.
